How to wash, clean and oil the sponge motorcycle air filter

1. Clean and wash the sponge air filter

Soak the filter in FWF Air Filter Liquid Dirt Remover in a

tub for 3-5 minutes to cut the filter oil. Eliminate dirt or trapped particles.

The most important thing is that the inside of the filter is completely free of dirt particles.

TIP: Do  not use gas or other aggressive chemical cleaners! These break the glue that holds the foam filter together. They also deteriorate the foam prematurely.

1. Rinse the filter

Rinse the filter with warm soapy water, making sure all dirt particles are removed. If necessary, repeat step 2.

Make sure you rinse the filter with clean water to make sure the soap residue is gone.

1. Dry the sponge filter

Place the foam air filter oil on a sheet of dull paper or clip your filter onto something clean and let it drain until completely dry.

Oiling the filter without it completely dry will trap moisture inside the sponge cell.

1. Oil the sponge filter

Dip the filter in the ORIGINAL Liquid Power dirt bike air filter making sure to saturate the entire filter, coating it evenly. Make sure you apply oil to the inside and outside of the filter.

TIP: Pre- lubricate the filter at least 24 hours before using the engine to allow the oil to evenly penetrate the pores and evaporate the thinner. A freshly oiled filter will cause greasy carburetion and decreased performance.

1. Eliminate excess

Gently squeeze the filter so that the excess oil from the filter falls out and a thin layer of oil remains. Continue to massage the filter until the filter is evenly coated.

1. Install the air filter

Install the cage in the washable air filters and install the filter in the air box. Before installing check that the carburettor boot is not dirty.

Make sure you wait 24 hours for the filter oil to dry

properly before riding a bicycle.

AIR FILTER CARE TIPS

• Clean the air filter cage and bolt
• Using a contact cleaner, spray the filter cage and
• bolt to remove old oil and dirt.

Clean the sealing ring

Spray the contact cleaner on a rag or towel and wipe the airbox sealing ring to remove dirt and oil residue. Look inside the airbox to make sure no dirt got into the airbox when you removed the filter.

Cleaning the airbox

Install your Twin Air Airbox Cover before washing your motorcycle or ATV. With the AirBox Cover installed, you can wash your airbox without getting dirt or water into your airbox.

This air filter is suitable for Dirt bike carburetors. The air filter is one of the most important parts for the correct functioning of the engine! I recommend washing the foam air filter:

1. Separate the foam from the socket, without forcing.
2. Wash in a basin filled with oil, petrol or white spirit in a well-ventilated area away from any flame.
3. Soak and press several times in a row, so that all the dirt dissolved and washed off by the solvent. Wring out the solvent by gently pressing the foam without twisting.
4. Leave a little dry, oil and foam AIR FILTER LIQUID ) to increase their media filter capacity.
5. The grease holds the dust. Do not put too much on, press the foam and soak up the excess with some paper or a clean cloth
